Literally a day prior to the event, I was told to make a slideshow of my photo work which will be projected at the event based on Wine, Winemakers, Food and good old vinyl spun music.
I quickly threw a mixture of stills and motion ranging from the birth photos of my daughter to the recent Macklemore video project.
I knew the piece will be looped and projected. Therefore, I filmed the final edit's playback thru the iPhone with the 8mm app to give an outdated look. I was watching The Conjuring on the other screen; hence the idea.
Ultimately, the final projection was exactly how I anticipated in my head. It was such a warm feeling to watch my work being exhibited for hundreds to dig. Many guests grabbed the projection via their phone and took photos. From one phone to many! Not sure if I call this creative recycling or irony.
One thing I learned from this project is to just let it go! I don't recall nitpicking for composition or pixel counts nor quality. Do what you feel like. Just make something! If you fail, you fail. If you succeed, you have absolutely nothing but gains! Period.
A huge thanks to Terrell for the hook up.
